Buying Guide
Differences between different brands of Gas Detector Tubes
Gas detector tubes are an economical way for quick, on the spot, gas specific measurement of wide range of flammable, toxic gases and vapours. It is one of the most reliable and proven ways to measure toxic gases, pollutants and harmful gases as detection method doesn’t rely on laboratory, calibration or power.
All gas detector tubes operate in a similar manner. However, the physical dimensions of the tube and the design of pump which enables to draw an air sample through detector tube vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Gastec Tubes are thin (5 mm) gas detector tubes. The correct sampling pump is required to ensure accurate measurement.
Kwik Draw (ex-MSA) and Drager Tubes are thick (7 mm) gas detector tubes. The tubes are interchangeable between Kwik Draw and Drager sample pumps.
Selecting the correct tube for your needs
Each tube is filled with sorbent granules, which change colour depending on the type of gas you’re measuring. A single tube is only designed to measure one type of chemical compound within a particular concentration range, such as hydrogen sulphide at 100 to 500 ppm.
Our easy-to-use site allows the user to select the tube you require by gas. For example, if you are looking to measure Carbon Dioxide, select the Brand (ie Drager) and then letter C. You will be presented with a selection as below showing CO2 and different detection ranges on offer.
